Serving Up Hope is Underway and We Need You.

CORE’s Serving Up Hope campaign officially kicked off September 1, bringing the food and beverage industry together to raise funds and awareness for families facing a health crisis, injury, or natural disaster. Running through October 31, the national campaign invites operators, suppliers, and industry supporters to come together and help CORE provide critical financial assistance to food and beverage employees and their families.
We’re now halfway through the campaign, and the response so far has been nothing short of inspiring. But there’s still real ground to cover before we reach the finish line on October 31st, and we need the industry to keep showing up.
This is why the work matters. Marquitta, a recent CORE grant recipient, was hospitalized with a major blood clot, missed three weeks of work, and fell behind on rent. She was nearly facing eviction with her 16-year-old daughter. A CORE grant helped her catch up and start over. In her words:
“I was hospitalized with a major blood clot and fell behind on my bills after missing 3 weeks of work,” said Marquitta. “Working paycheck to paycheck, things became really hard and everything was past due. I was even at risk of losing my apartment, which would cause me and my 16-year-old daughter to become homeless. I prayed and kept faith, and I continued to push even though I didn’t know how things would change.”
“Then I saw the CORE grant and decided to apply for help. I was so grateful when they reached out because I knew that this was a real place that cared about my situation… The next week I received an email that my family had been approved for a grant! Just enough to help me catch up on everything. I’m so happy that places like CORE exist and that there are people out there who still support and care about others. God bless you all!”

About CORE
CORE is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit that is dedicated to providing support to the food & beverage service industry. CORE grants financial assistance to food and beverage operations employees with children when the employee, their spouse/domestic partner, or their child is faced with a life-altering health crisis, injury, death or natural disaster. Crisis Assistance – CORE directly pays monthly expenses (rent, food & utilities) to workers in the food and beverage service industry whose immediate family is experiencing a medical crisis, domestic abuse/violence, death, or a natural disaster.
