Getting Lost and Being Found

THE LOST

A coveted ring lost for a quarter of a century.

This is no ordinary ring; this is a story about a Canadian Club Society ring lost in time.

THE HISTORY

Back in the day, in the distilled spirits industry, Canadian Club Scotch would recognize outstanding sales achievements each year at a black-tie event where a small circle of exemplary Distributor sales performers would receive a coveted Canadian Club ring.

The Canadian Club Society inducted its first members in 1964 to recognize “the best of the best” of distributor sales achievement.

THE LINK

IMI Agency had the pleasure of managing the Canadian Club Society and President’s Club recognition programs from 1990-2005. Recently IMI’s team members were cleaning out old files and boxes in preparation to move to our new HQ office in Atlanta, and in the process, found a Canadian Club ring box with a name engraved on the inside. We immediately put our detective hats on and went to work determined to find the rightful owner of the ring.

After a thorough investigation, we successfully determined that the ring belongs to Doug Epstein, Principle Managing Director of Regional Sales for Horizon Beverage in Norton, MA.

THE FAMILY

As it turns out, Horizon Beverage and Doug’s family have a long heritage with Canadian Club. He was the third generation of Canadian Club Society sales achievers to be inducted into the Canadian Club Society, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father.

THE MYSTERY

About 25 years ago something mysterious took place. We suspect that the ring may have been returned for either resizing or a new diamond insert and was misplaced, and as time passed, people forgot, and there it sat, lost in time.

THE FIND

Doug was thrilled to be reunited with the cherished relic of his past and could not have been more grateful to be able to connect with his ring as a third-generation inductee, even if it took a quarter-of-a-century. After all, Horizon Beverage has been selling Canadian Club since 1933, they are old friends with a long history.
