Picture if you will a libation so popular it warrants its own week of celebration…

This is International Negroni Week, a week in which bars and restaurants take part in the global celebration of one of the greatest classic cocktails of all time.

The stylish Negroni is believed to have its origins in the Café Casoni in Florence, Italy in 1919 and was invented by Count Camille Negroni.

Earlier this week Don and I had the pleasure of experiencing an exceptional preparation at The Georgian Rooms Restaurant and Lounge located within The Cloister at Sea Island.

Sea Island’s edgy take on the Negroni joins equal parts Gin and Campari, Vermouth, and an orange twist with the addition of 1/2 oz. of Cardamaro, a wine-based aperitif, that adds deeper balance and complexity to the timeless profile of the Negroni.

Master Bartender Scott Hartegan and Lead Bartender Nic Wallace have given this timeless cocktail an outstanding edge with equal parts Gin and Campari, along with Vermouth and an orange twist. The addition of 1/2 oz. of Cardamaro adds an increased balance and complexity making Sea Island’s version of the ageless Negroni positively brilliant.
